Milestones

  • 1971 – 1972 – Commencement of the M.R. Government Arts College, Mannargudi with undergraduate programmes; affiliated to the University of Madras.
  • 1982 – 1983 – Affiliation of the college to Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli.
  • 2004 – 2005 – Launch of three postgraduate programmes.
  • 2004 – 2005 – Introduction of two undergraduate programmes through the self-financing stream.
  • 2005 – 2006 – Start of three postgraduate programmes.
  • 2006 – 2007 – NAAC cycle 1 assessment and accreditation of the college at C++ level.
  • 2008 – 2009 – Conversion of self-supporting programmes into regular programmes.
  • 2012 – 2014 – Sanction and recognition of 9 Departments as ‘Research Centers’ to offer M.Phil. & Ph.D. programmes.
  • 2013 – 2014 – Introduction of three postgraduate programmes.
  • 2013 – 2014 – Elevation of the college to ‘A Grade’ status.
  • 2014 – 2015 – NAAC cycle 2 assessment and accreditation of the college with ‘B’ grade.
  • 2016 – 2017 – Receipt of Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) funding for infrastructure enhancement.
  • 2017 – 2018 – Introduction of one undergraduate and one postgraduate programme.
  • 2021 – 2022 – Golden Jubilee Year - Completion of 50 years of higher educational service.
  • 2021 – 2022 – Student admissions: Online application process – Admission Facilitation Centre (AFC), Thiruvarur District, and introduction of ‘Certificate programs’.
  • 2022 – 2023 – Offering RUSA-sponsored vocational courses and various up-skilling courses/training through the Naan Mudhalvan scheme/platform.
